Canon 17-40 F4L

Although I had no intention originally to purchase these lens, an opportunity came along and I switched basically 1:1 my old 70-200 F4L to a new-like 17-40 F4l.. Although I was reluctant of its capabilities compared to my 24-70 F2.8L (2.8 is addictive, just like full frame) I must say that with proper light/lighting brings along decent photos. It's not going to equal a 2.8 ( my original intention was to acquire 16-35 F2.8L) but will satisfy the needs of an advanced amateur shooter. Wide open brings quite a bit of dark edges, closed to 5.6 yields decent shots. I wouldn't call it a pro lens in any ways, just a strong advanced amateur tool and light weight to carry around. Color rendering is pretty nice, but not on par with my 24-70 F2.8L.You can cram a lot of landscape in the frame and offers lots of fun up-close. With all that I'll still keep my mind open for the 16-35 F2.8L in future.
